Hubby's Birthday

Today was the Hubby's Birthday. He is now officially a quarter of a century old!

What did we do to celebrate? Well he opened his present from me last night. I know, I know. I asked if he would like it a day early, and of course he did.

He woke up this morning to a little love note written on the mirror. Then while he was at work I made beautiful, Funfetti cupcakes with vanilla and chocolate frosting. I also made sure that I stocked up on 25 candles because we all know you get one candle per year you are old (I refuse to skimp). After he got home from work we went out to dinner at Applebee's and came home for dessert.

I enjoyed making his day special and I hope/know he appreciated every minute of it. Now I must plan on topping this all for next year!

A Very Merry, Married Christmas

I hope everyone had a great holiday and I hope everyone spent a lot of time with family and friends, either in person, on the phone, or by skype. It was a different holiday than my husband and I are used to. We have no family here and were not able to make it home. Our family was so gracious and caring and sent us a ton of presents and skyped with us on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

Here is our beautiful tree full of presents at the bottom.

We started out our Christmas Eve morning with belgium waffles topped with powdered sugar, blackberry and raspberry syrup (homemade), and cool whip.

Then Christmas morning, we made homemade monkey bread, opened all our presents and started making our new tradition dinner (roasted chicken).

It sure was a great weekend and I am so grateful to have shared every minute of it with my husband. We dearly missed our family but we are happy that we did not have to deal with the other holiday travelers.

Roxi all dressed up for the festive weekend!

The New Year

I cannot believe everything that has happened this year and I cannot believe that this year is coming to a close.

Many people start thinking about New Year's resolutions for things they want to change or add to their life for the coming year. This got me thinking about implementing these 'New Year's' resolutions before the New Year. I mean, how many people fail the resolution during the first week anyway?

So here is my thought. Pick a few resolutions that I know I want to add to the New Year and start doing them now.

It starts TODAY folks.

Today's resolution (which will continue into the new year)

1. One green serving/side with dinner

2. One mini workout (or a mini yoga session) - seriously, this took me less than 20 minutes to do an intense workout and I feel great. It is do-able for everyone.

What are your resolutions that you can start doing today?

Just Another Week

I just want to say thank you to everyone for all the birthday wishes. I was able to hear from family and friends around the world (that is right, I know people around the world).

You may ask what I did? Well I had to work that evening but Kyle made me dinner {burritos} and bought me flowers, along with my other birthday present. I was definitely spoiled and I liked it oh so much.

Now I have to gear up and get motivated to deal with Christmas festivities (not my favorite thing at all). I just sent out two boxes of presents to my parents and my in-laws. Now just a few more things to finish up and then celebrate.

Another holiday task that was interesting was Kyle's holiday work dinner. I was able to meet Kyle's coworkers and they had a giveaway ($1,000 cash, 50" tv, iPad, Kindle, and a few others). While the prizes were really nice, we didn't win any. So I am just going to say that we didn't want them any ways {ha}.

Here's to another productive week.

Good Morning

My morning consists of making a cup of coffee, turning on the tv, and grabbing a blanket.

I am much happier about doing that on these cold mornings with the view of my lovely Christmas tree, presents underneath, and my gorgeous holiday mugs.

I am so glad that half of my mugs are just winter themed so I can keep them out even after Christmas (Kyle probably will not like that).

I hope everyone enjoys their lovely weekend!

Oh Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

I can complain all I want about those silly families that decide to decorate for Christmas way before Thanksgiving. I have waited for the month of December to officially decorate for Christmas and that includes my Christmas tree.

Would you like to see it?

Here she is all decorated with the lights on.

Now in the daylight. Oh and a few presents that I already wrapped! Who are they for?

At our wedding shower we received these awesome ornaments. Perfect!

So, how did I do? Kyle and I are starting a new tradition of decorating the tree together. I had it prepped for him and we only needed to put the ornaments on. I say we did great!

December 1st

Oh December is such a good month. There is of course Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and New Years Eve. But there is also my birthday (and Husband's birthday too)!! Time is ticking away and I will be another year older. Goody!

I have become absolutely fascinated with changing my desktop picture to a wallpaper calendar each month. I get all of the photos from Smashing Magazine.

This month's photo...

Oh isn't it just beautiful?

But I may have to change the desktop to a Christmas theme after my birthday. I am thinking that this one is a good one.

It will be a tough decision because there are 30 wallpapers this month. Oh yeah, they are all free to download!
