Love Letters

I wrote about my volunteer work way back when.

Well, once a week I try and do a Coffee Talk, hour or so, on my volunteer Facebook page (go ahead and like me for updates). During these coffee hours, anyone that is online can talk to me through the messaging option. It really is a lot of fun to just talk to people about any and every thing.

A few moments after I posted that I was going to be online, this pops up in my message inbox...
That's from my husband (don't get any bad ideas people!).

How very sweet of him to leave me a little love note.

Let's Get Muddy [2]

On Monday, I shared a few sneak peeks from our most recent adventure run.

Here are our results from the Reno Run Amuck:

I love how they did not tell us anything about the obstacles. Each was a mystery.
After running the course, I can now tell you the obstacles.

1. Tires
2. Planks
3. Hay Jumps
4. Rolling Down Hill
5. Tube Tunnel
6. Potato Sack
7. & 8. Mud Pit
9. Hay Jumps
10. Planks
11. Tires
12. Three Story Inflatable Slid

Our after photo really isn't that bad. We had a refreshing spray off before the giant inflatable slide.

Myself, Hubby, and our friend Dan.

Official post race photo. We look like we just took a stroll in the park.

Our time - 34:40.30
That's number 65 out of 162 [teams].
We were grouped as team 'Michigan Muckers', so our time is of all of us crossing the
finish line together.

Take Advice From Me

Because I am a genius, of course.

"You have to be first if you want to be in first place" - quoted by wonderful me.
[I mean seriously, what would you be if you weren't in first?]

Weekend Adventures

Our adventures during the Reno Run Amuck (2.5 mile obstacle run).
What a blast - more to come this week.

Big fat friend. He must be getting some good meals outside of our friend's house.
Aces baseball game and enjoying some drinks.

Poor baby was tired from an exciting weekend. She decided that she would
prefer to sit alone in the back seat.

What Happened??

What happened is that I have been absolutely crazy busy for no apparent reason. Running here, running there, changing this bed and that bed, laundry, post office, and whatever else you want to throw at me.

So here we are, midweek and I am finally getting a post up.

Let me start by saying this past weekend was enjoyable. Our friend came to stay the weekend and of course he brought his lovely husky, Kayuh. Kayuh and our dog, Roxi, try to be social but then want to eat each other's face. I am pretty sure that Kayuh, being 50ish pounds bigger than Roxi, would win.
However, this weekend they behaved very well and could be in the same room - exhibit A
They do not really care that they are both in the same room, but if I were to put Roxi down there will surely be an attack.

The beginning of the week was running around for last minute Father's day items, cleaning, trying new recipes and getting ready for the race this weekend.

Here are our meal plans for this week. We are leaving for Reno on Friday so I only
have 4 meals planned.

Lasagna Rolls with Steamed Green Beans

Grilled Chicken with Green Bean Risotto and a Salad

Chicken and Pea Elbow Noodle Casserole

Darn You - Lint Balls

Here's a quickie tip for you:
You know after you wash your cotton shirts or after wearing your favorite cotton shirt over and over again, it gets those little lint balls on it or under the armpit area. I have not found a
solution that is quick and easy because we all know the lint rollers don't always work.

Now this was not a cotton shirt, but I needed to get rid of the ugly lint balls.

This is what you need:
Shirt with lint balls
Disposable razor
-That's it-

How to use this technique:
Shave off all the lint - literally shave it right off.

You will end up with bits like this. Then pick those off and you have a beautiful shirt again.

And there you have it, quickie tip for removing lint balls from clothing.

Adventure Race

The Hubs and I will be partaking in another adventure race!
Remember when I posted about the Survivor Mud Run? So let the training begin.

This race is a 2.5 mile, 10 obstacle course run with a 60ft mud pit.
The previous race we ran, told us almost all the obstacles but 2 or 3 mystery ones. This race only says that there is a 60ft mud pit and a 3 story drop inflatable slide.

So how exactly am I to train for this?
The Hubby and I are running/jogging 3 days a week (mileage unknown since I do not have a device to track - I would love recommendations) and 12-25 minute interval/circuit training 4-6 days a week.

Nine more days then we will head off to Reno for the race in ten days.
I have to admit, I absolutely love adventure races and am hoping to continue running in at least two a year. Does anyone else have an obsession with adventure races?

Weekend Adventures

No more Weekend [Without Words] on Monday's because, well, I stink at taking pictures of things that are not exciting and I seem to include way too many words.

This was this weekend's adventures. Trust me, it wasn't much of an adventure.

I had to start the weekend out with roasted marshmallows. Of course, they have to be cooked on the grill. Unless you have access to a bonfire, which we clearly did not.

I just cannot get enough of this sandwich and sweet potato fries. What makes the sandwich is the puff pastry bread. It is a must try for everyone.

There is a lot going on with this photo. First off, that is Hubby right there. Next is that awfulness on his face. Yes, I am referring to the growth (or lack there of) of facial hair (he is going to kill me after reading this). Lastly, you can see the lovely sign of the tasting room that we love to go to.

Bonus of the weekend - we signed up for our very first wine club. I cannot wait until we get to pick up our first box this month, so stay tuned.

How was everyone's weekend?
