a traveling Wife: Summer Happiness

Summer Happiness

Wednesday, July 1, 2015

I am sharing the happiness of Summer with my family and strangers. The #CokeHappyHour shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #CollectiveBias

If you have been hanging around here for a while, you would know that I am not a huge soda drinker. But I am a huge POP drinker... Kidding! I could throw regional terms in every post. #travelingproblems However, I do love to indulge in a good, cold Diet Coke occasionally - especially in the summertime.

I had to run to Walgreens to purchase a new eyelash curler. Mine must have been at least 10 years old and it just looked really sad. I chucked that bad boy in the trash bin and made my merry way to the store. I hemmed and hawed over several different brand curlers and finally picked one. Why are there so many options? Don't they all do the same thing? Then the browsing happened. If you are anything like me, you walk into the store needing one thing and leave with an empty wallet.

After perusing the aisles, I made my way to the checkout. But first, a sneaky little Diet Coke appeared from the corner of my eye labeled, "Jennifer". It was like a sign. I then saw that it was Happy Hour at Walgreens and the Coca-Colas were buy one, get one free. Note: you must always take advantage of a BOGO situation. I scoured the shelves for another "Jennifer" when I should have really been searching for my Husband's name. Sure enough, his name came up first so I grabbed one for him as a surprise.

I started making my way back to the checkout and wondered who else might be happy to receive an unsolicited soda. I picked up a few more bottles and FINALLY left the store.

The entire way home I pondered if I would just chug these bottles before A got home or if I should share one with... my mail carrier. Oh, the mail carrier - perfect!

I pulled out some craft paper to create a cute little tag and thought about a clever note or phrase I could put on it. I threw in a pack of gum and thanked her for going the 'extra' mile.

When is the last time you offered an unsolicited thank you? I think I need to do this more often because I felt so much joy when I stuck the little happiness package in our mailbox.

    1. There were some really unique names when I was looking for my 2nd bottle. I wouldn't be too surprised if your name is out there, somewhere!

  2. I love a good, cold bottle of regular Coke. I used to be a Pepsi drinker then I gave up soda. THEN I had a Coke eek. Once in a while now I'll have one but I would have a problem if I kept them stocked at home.

Anyway, great suggestion to give unsolicited thank you's. That was a cute gift!

    1. Thank you! I didn't realize that giving to others, especially those I don't know, would give me a certain feeling that is just really hard to explain. It's like watching a child open up a present - there is so much joy! Also, my husband is a big Coke Zero fan as well.
