Weekend Recap - Mölkky

Monday, July 13, 2015

There are two different types of people - those that are great at remembering names and those that are terrible at remember names. I am the latter individual for sure.

A and I went to one of his co-worker's house over the weekend and I was introduced to many new faces. By the end of the evening I had no idea who was who and which spouse belonged to one another. I feel like this is something I need to work on because I'm an adult. And this is what adults do, right?

Anyways.

I wanted to take a little something with me to the party because I don't like showing up empty handed. I opted for the simplest snack ever - rice krispies treats.

I wrapped them in some wax paper and bakers twine so they could easily be eaten. Plus, gooey rice krispies on a hot summer day tend to stick to one another. This was just a fancy way of avoiding that!
Showing up with some snacks and beers didn't seem like it was going to be enough. I wanted to bring some entertainment too and brought a yard game that is new to me - Mölkky (This product was sent to me. No other compensation was provided)Mölkky is a Finnish throwing game that I think is similar to bocce or horseshoes.

Molkky, yard game, summer

I may not be great at remember people's names but I am pretty great at yard games. I'm not going to brag but I did win both of the rounds that we played.

Molkky, yard game, summer

If you are looking for a new yard game, I highly recommend Mölkky. The game is really easy to get the hang of and you can make it extremely competitive. So much fun!

How was your weekend? Have you ever heard of Mölkky?

When Life Gives You Strawberries

Monday, June 8, 2015

Weekend

- A left work a little early on Friday so we could go 'officially become Maryland residents'. Can I just say, we've been to many different motor vehicle branches in many states - Maryland wasn't my favorite. However, I didn't have to take another knowledge exam so that says a lot about the drivers here. They printed my id out right on the spot so I didn't have to carry around a temp which was a new thing for me. Treat us nicely, Maryand!

- Friday night we went to one of A's coworker's house. Beers, campfire, and good conversation was exchanged. It's been a REALLY long time since I've been out passed midnight. #oldladystatus

- Saturday was one of the last days for strawberry picking around here. I took A out for his first ever pick-your-own berries. The fresh air and hard work was much enjoyed. I will give it to him though - he picked way more strawberries than I did. I prefer to eat while I work!! Also, when life gives you strawberries, you are responsible for making strawberry cheesecake - it's the circle of life.

- The tree in front of our house has been neglected for several years (at least that's what the neighbors told us). When we would get tons of rain, the branches would rub against the top of the car if it was in the driveway. So we did some adult work and trimmed back the tree. It's amazing how many neighbors will come by and say hello when you are out working. Hello neighbors!

- Dinner was a lovely and expensive evening of sushi. The restaurant we went to was just around the corner from our house and the staff was absolutely lovely, and the food was pretty darn tasty. We ordered far too much food, because 4-5 sushi rolls never seems to be enough until you have 7 rolls presented to you. Sushi coma.

- We woke up bright and early Sunday and heading to the park and the dog beach. Roxi just loves it there and it doesn't take much to convince me to go.

- After doing some errands and A worked on the cars, we loaded up or bikes and headed back to the park. Biked about 5.5 miles through both paved and unpaved trails, killed a couple of ticks that decided we might be good hosts, and picked up a Snoball on the way home. We are working our way through all of the flavors and we still have a ways to go.

What did you do this weekend? Was the weather lovely to do outdoor activities?

Monday Memories

Monday, October 13, 2014

...and we meet again. I'm not talking about you and I - I'm talking about Monday.

I am having really mixed feelings this Monday. I wanted to stay in bed so terribly. It was rainy outside and dark and I was just tired. But then again, I also wanted to go to work to get the day over with. I mean, I am only 2 work days away from being on vacation. Whoop! Let the festivities begin, dammit!

While my weekend went by in the blink of an eye, I am hoping Monday and Tuesday will be the exact same way. Time flies when you're having fun. Although, I didn't do anything spectacular this weekend so I am stumped as to why it went by so quick. Here is what I did! Brace yourself - it was far from wild and crazy.

And a little snuggle sesh to end the fall adventurous weekend. Mind you, it was freezing in the house!

Now bring on the sunshine, warm weather, cocktails, and vacation memories... Just a few more days.

Morning, Noon & Night

Monday, July 29, 2013

Happy Monday to you. I am going to start this beautiful morning off with a little large glass of mimosa as I have the day off from work. Then after I get warm and toasty I am off to get my hair did. After 7 long months without doing anything to it - don't judge. While I'm off to relax in my pj's with my cocktail I would still like to reminisce about the weekend.

Let me just be short with you and highlight my favorite Morning, Noon & Night activities that occurred this weekend. There is nothing more important than enjoying the beautiful weather we experienced in Indy, drinking pitchers of beer and walking in the park.

Morning
Even though I did not take this stroll in the park in the morning I am labeling it morning. We should all know by now that I am not a morning person so this will just have to do. A and I took the pup for a nice long walk surrounded by this beautiful scenery. She was pooped for the rest - mission accomplished.

Noon
When you are offered a pitcher while ordering lunch you never, ever turn it down. If you have not learned anything from me before, you should remember that rule.
Also, another rule you can learn from me - if you drive by a winery and they are open for tasting, you go inside and get your drink on.

Night
The temperature was in the low 70's and I spent every possible moment outside. Even if it meant that I had to wear a sweatshirt, sweatpants, and a blanket. I enjoyed the fresh air, smell of my favorite candle, and taste of a new wine from wine tasting.

It seriously couldn't have been any better of a weekend. Plus getting today off made me feel stress free on Sunday. Now I am off to go get made pretty - after I finish my mimosa!

How was your weekend?

Stalker

Monday, July 22, 2013

This is about all I remember from the weekend - beer, beer, and more beer. That's my weekend recap, goodbye.

Seriously though, I drank a lot of beer this weekend mostly because we went to a Craft Beer Festival on Saturday. And if you are hoping to see pictures from that shit show, you will be thoroughly disappointed. I was so busy tasting over 300 beers that my phone/camera never made its appearance out of my clutch. As though the 300 plus beers were not enough on Saturday, I went and tried a new beer that Buffalo Wild Wings is not serving on Sunday. While I may still be in my drunken state of mind, let me share with you what I remember from the weekend.

A and I bought a new/used car. That would be our 2007 Audi A4 2.0 Turbo. She's a beaut but still needs a name. Any suggestions? We actually bought her on Thursday just one day before the weekend but because of everything that lead up to paying our money for the car is the reason for drowning my sorrows in beer more to come on that story.

Before you decide to make your only beverage choice as beer for the weekend, you must first drink some bubbly in the office on a Friday before you head home. That my friends is a mandatory thing. Can I just say how much I love my office?!

As if ending your weekday at work with some fancy champagne isn't good enough, I made a delicious flatbread pizza for dinner. My world is forever changed.

This is kind of where the photos end and I should honestly end this post before you think I am some serious alcoholic. Who am I kidding? I don't care if you think I am an alcoholic or not. Saturday was spent hanging outside with friends enjoying some tasty brews while Sunday was spent ordering far too many wings and throwing back a few more brews.

Now I am off to go try and clear out my system from all of the alcohol I consumed. But before I do, I should probably announce the winner from last week's giveaway for a $10 eGift card to Starbucks. First off, nobody knows how to follow rules around here and I guess I don't blame you. Unfortunately, if you failed to follow the rules this time, your entry to the giveaway is invalid - sucker! That leaves only 3 entries and those three are super lucky because that just increased their chances of winning.

The winner is..... Lindsay from Trial by Sapphire my personal stalker. I will be emailing you shortly!

Takin' Care of Business

Monday, July 15, 2013

Working 9 to 5 plus some is what has become a common thing around this neck of the woods. Some overtime was offered up in the office and I jumped on that train quicker than I ran to the bathroom after some food truck festivities. Too much?! I am mostly picking up the overtime before it becomes mandatory and messes with my date with some beer next weekend. While I worked a few several hours over the weekend, I sure had a ton of fun as well.

Friday I stayed late at the office then A and I went to a friend's house. A few beers and many hours later, we wound up at home around 1:30a. That is the latest this old hag has stayed up in ages. But, again, I am just prepping for this weekend's beer date.

Saturday we were up fairly early even for going to bed at 2am. Waking up with a pounding headache knowing that the day is going to be absolutely amazing outside kind of makes you think twice about drinking like that again. Some people live and learn others, like myself, will live and repeat bad mistakes.

Any-who, we popped some pills and downed a bunch of water then made our way to downtown Indy to try and help break a world record - while doing zumba.
After we got done making a fool of ourselves and sweating like we've never sweated before, we hit up food truck alley to grab some grub. Now I have never ever eaten any food from a food truck but I have always been curious. We have food trucks come to my office about three times a week but I just have not had enough courage to eat food from a roach coach. Let me get back to the weekend. After checking the menu at each truck we decided to try two - tacos and sliders.
The tacos were Ahh-Mazing - so good. We ordered chicken tandoori, beef, and pakora all with a mango salsa on top. The slider on the other hand was pretty basic. Along with the slider we order a bacon sweet potato hash which was one of their best sellers but I found it too salty. I am picky when it comes to how I want food to taste but I am not a picky eater. Does that make sense?!
Now at this point our bellies were full and we waddled our way back to the car. On our way home we stopped at a few car dealerships because we are in need of a car since A has sold his. Wow, news to you all. A bought his car from a friend and that said friend is buying the car back from us. Long story but it was planned that way before we even bought it. Right when we got to the first dealership my stomach started to feel funny. I know I have a sensitivity to mangoes and thought the mango salsa on the tacos was the culprit. But then the stomach ache got worse - like I will run to the bathroom as quick as possible or give me a diaper. Needless to say, I may not be trying a food truck again for a long, long time.

Saturday ended with some grocery shopping and getting some work done on my computer while sitting on the patio. It was a crazy busy day!

Sunday was my day to play big girl because I had to work. Luckily it was just overtime so the pay outweighs how early I had to be up on the weekend. I stopped on my way to work to grab some super healthy not breakfast and caffeine to help wake me up.
This is when the real fun began. Seriously. Two hours after arriving to work and with only three people in the office, the fire alarm starts to go off. Insert the three of us frantically jumping up. There is nothing like a fire alarm to get your morning going. We grab our things and headed out the door. After calling our managers/bosses and the property management with no luck of anyone answering the phones, we decided to call 911 just incase there was an actual fire. Our building is pretty huge because we are attached to a packing warehouse so when the firetrucks came, they all came. And let me just tell you, I could not complain. There is something that is hardwired in us girls for our hearts to melt over a man in a uniform. Honestly, the only uniform that really gets my fire burning ha catch the pun? is a fireman. I mean seriously...
After all six of the firetrucks gave the okay that the building was clear we got news that the property management was planning on testing the alarms all day without giving notification to our company because we don't normally work on Sundays. Great, just great. It was definitely an entertaining day at the office.

The remainder of the day was catching up on house work, cooking, blogging, and arguing with A about which car to buy. Big purchases are always stressful especially when you are down to just a few days before we will be a family with only one car. It will be interesting to see which car we choose. You will have to stay tuned!

Who makes the important decisions in your house?

New Experiences

Monday, July 8, 2013

Were you lucky enough to enjoy a nice long holiday weekend? I sure as hell did not. I worked Friday and Saturday while A had Thursday through today off lucky ducky. I was still able to make the most of the weekend and even enjoyed a trip to the movies. The last time I was actually at the movie theaters was in 2008 - craziness.

So I worked all day Friday and 7 hours on Saturday then the fun really began around this joint.
Saturday afternoon we went grocery shopping and picked up some beers to enjoy at home. Then we enjoyed our beers with the puppy sitting outside on our patio/balcony. There is nothing more relaxing then sitting outside at night watching the sun set or go behind the trees.

Sunday we started the day with some cinnamon rolls and then a short run to burn some calories. Of course Sunday is also my day to get everything done for the week. That means all of the meals prepped and/or cooked, laundry, blogging, showering kidding - I shower daily and whatever else.

This Sunday was different. I still managed to cooked all 10 lunches and all dinners were prepped but A and I snuck out of the house for a little day-date. What did we do? We went to the movies and saw one of the best movies ever. Like ever. And it was our first 3D movie experience. We are definitely far, far behind when it comes to technology. Ready for cheesy smile? 3..2..1..
Well now I am off to inhale some beers, cocktails, and a little pasta for dinner remember I blog on Sunday's. It is going to be a long week.

How was your weekend? Have you ever seen a 3D movie?

Hitchhikers

Monday, May 20, 2013

I bet you don't care to hear about my 4 mile walk or my 14 mile bike ride that happened this weekend.
I also doubt that you care to read me blabbing typing on about my intake of Sam Adam's or my mourning breakfast of power protein waffles. But if you do care about any of the above, you can probably catch what happened on my Twitter or Instagram.

I do have a story that would probably interest you. Or it might even make you think I am a crazy person. Which I am!!
This story involves some teeny-boppers in cheerleading uniforms.
Do I have your attention yet?

So A and I were in the car on our way home from some where. We were driving down a main road and there were a group of girls teeny-boppers in cheerleading uniforms walking on the sidewalk. One of those said teeny-boppers decided it might be funny, or maybe she was serious, to stick her thumb out to hitchhike.

I looked over at A and said, "You should probably pull over and pick up those girls. I will teach them a lesson to not ever hitchhike again." This is where you can think I am crazy.

No we did not pick up the girls! But it makes me sad to see that young girls, in cheerleading uniforms or not, are joking about hitchhiking. Who knows if someone would have taken them seriously. There are too many scary people out there in the world not matter how nice of the city is you live in.

When if I have children, I hope I can teach them better than that. Either way, I wish I could have taught those teeny-boppers a lesson.

How do you feel about the situation?

How was your weekend?

Real Awkward

Monday, May 13, 2013

Yet again, I bring you another weekend recap. Typical me, I know.

But this weekend, A and I had a ton of fun with really no plans. Plus we are kind of on a spending freeze or kind of budgeting how we spend our money. So it was fun to try and do activities that don't cost too much money. Be prepared for a ton of photos.

Friday evening was spent working out and then relaxing on the couch. A picked up a beautiful orchid for me for Mother's Day.
I can still celebrate even though I am only a fur-mom.
Can I just say that the Coconut Leaves candle from Bath and Body works is absolutely amazing?! I mean if you like piña coladas and getting caught in the rain, then you will love it as well.

Saturday morning we woke up and got our fitness on. Then we baked up a delicious strawberry french toast because we wanted to take full advantage of our cheat day.
We then got some stuff done around the house, took Roxi to play in the high school field that we live by, then left to go look at a new used car. Even though we are not really in the market for a new car, A still likes to look. I find it really nice that we do not have a car payment and I don't think I could really adjust to go back to paying one monthly.

After wasting our time by looking at a junk of a car, we heading to grab some grub. This week I was having a serious craving for sushi and knew the only day I could eat it was Saturday.
We definitely ate up that sushi. I had to top off the rest of lunch by walking across the street from the sushi restaurant to get a Starbucks coffee. Now you might be wondering how we managed to grab lunch and coffee even though we are budgeting what we spend. Here's a few tips 1) we had sushi for lunch when they offer lunch specials and one dollar beers and 2) I had a free Starbucks beverage from watching tv (go watch tv and get free gift cards). So there you have it, sushi and Starbucks for under $30.
With our full bellies and caffeinated bodies, we went home and took a power nap. A then went outside to do some maintenance work on his car and I wrote up the grocery list. This is super exciting stuff people.

Sunday was the most fun yet not much happened.
Our cheat day kind of rolled on into Sunday and I am okay with that.
We started Mother's Day by eating a whole box of munchkins. Like I said, really exciting things are happening.
Then we did a little bit of grocery shopping and playing with Roxi in the field again. But this time when we were in the field, I finally was able to cut some lilacs off the lilac bush to fill my house.
There is nothing I love better than to have fresh flowers in the house and lilacs have the best smell.
Now only if those suckers would last longer than 5 days and I would be one happy camper.
We finished Sunday off with taking a 10 mile bike ride. I think we were both feeling a little guilty about eating an entire box of donut holes and the amount of beer that was consumed during the weekend.
Oh yeah, I also got my shit stuff together and finally filmed a vlog with A. Things can get real awkward when filming a video with your husband just saying.

How was your weekend?

Demolishing A Whole Plate Of Bacon

Monday, May 6, 2013

The weekend is already over? I cannot believe it. I always enjoy sleeping in, spending time with A sitting on the couch, and downing a couple of cocktails.

But what made this weekend even better, besides celebrating Cinco de Mayo, was having A's college friend/best friend/best man spend the weekend at our house.

We celebrated Cinco de Mayo very lightly yesterday with only guacamole and salsa - no margaritas.
I so badly wish I had a margarita but Indiana does not allow the sale/purchase of alcohol on Sunday and I was far to lazy (or active riding 10 miles on my bike) to go to the bar. Indiana, us drunks would like to purchase alcohol err day.
So I am feeling refreshed and energized this Monday with no hangover. Yippie!

Here is how the rest of the weekend looked.
--

Friday was spent catching up with our houseguest while A had to work. I picked up a big meaty steak and some veggies to make a delicious dinner. All boys love steak, right?!
Do not let that photo fool you. There is well over 2lbs of steak to feed an army of three.

After dinner, we headed down the street to our favorite pub.
A Friday night cannot get any better than drinks, sports games, and chatting it up with a great bartender.

Saturday was really relaxed. After we demolished a plate full of bacon and a few eggs we took the pups out for a walk. For those of you that do not remember, our friend has a husky that somewhat does not get along well with my little baby.

Because walking dogs is such a strenuous activity and bacon can only give you so much energy, we were ready to go grab some lunch.

We devoured some wings and pizza as if I was not supposed to be making a lifestyle change.
It was our friend's first time in Indianapolis so we gave him a little tour via car of the city.
He had only just driven across the country for his move from the West coast to the Midwest and his vehicle cabin fever was starting to rub off on us. Talk about raunchy jokes and a bunch of nonsense.

We all finally escaped from the car and decided a bike ride would be a good idea. But an even better idea was to ride our bikes to go get ice cream - we are geniuses.

The remainder of Saturday was spend watching the Red Wings game. Too bad they lost.
Side note - all three of us are from Michigan.

Our houseguest left early Sunday morning to finish the last part of his adventure to his new home.
A and I then rode our bikes to breakfast. I mean if you are going to eat something like this you need to do some exercise before and after. White chocolate macadamia nut pancake with banana butter.

Once again, you would never know that I am eating clean and losing weight.
But the rest of the day was spent mentally beating myself up for how bad I treated my body over the weekend and loving on this little pooch.

How was your weekend? Did you celebrate Cindo de Mayo?

I Got Yelled At

Monday, April 29, 2013

Hello Monday! We meet again.

Every week is just another vicious cycle. But, things are changing folks. Just you wait.

As for the weekend. It was a very relaxed and carefree weekend.
Oh, besides my lovely mugshot!!

Before you go getting any ideas, I am referring to my new drivers license id photo.
For some strange reason, Indiana must be a completely grumpy state because you are not allowed to smile showing your teeth for your id photo. Strange, very strange.

A and I went to BMV on Friday afternoon to take the driving knowledge exam and change over our vehicle titles and registration from California. After I passed the exam of course I couldn't fail I sat in front of the gorgeous blue screen to get my photo taken.

I got comfortable, brushed my hair straight with my hands and gave the camera my best smile.

Immediately I got yelled at!
"NO TEETH! Smile with you lips. Pull you hair behind you ears. Chin up. Don't move!"
The lady was quite demanding. Not to mention, she had poor grammar.

So I followed the rules after having a few bursts of laughter and I get this.
Thanks Indiana, that is the best photo. Ever.

The rest of the weekend went a little like this.
How was your weekend?

Trip Down Memory Lane

Monday, April 22, 2013

Happy Monday to you.

How was your weekend? Did you have some lovely weather? Maybe try something new?

I can definitely say that my weekend was unproductive at most.
Let's take a small trip down memory lane and see what happened or did not happen this weekend.

Friday night went a little like this.

We had some dinner along with some adult beverages and were glued in front of the TV.
A and I were very delighted to see how Boston residents, police, firefighters, military, and everyone else involved handled the capture of one of the Boston Marathon bombers.
The entire team(s) did an amazing job and I am proud to be an American!

Saturday morning we got some things done around the house. Then we rode our bikes down the walking/biking trails to be at the finish line for a marathon that was taking place in the city I live in.

I have been to a marathon before never to run and I remember the contagious feeling of excitement and accomplishment to watch runners cross the finish line. A had never been to a marathon before and since the finish line was only about 3-4 miles away from us we had to go watch.
One day I will run a marathon. Baby steps first.

Before we were ready to head home, we stopped in to grab some
beers at a tap house along the walking/biking trail.
I guess I wanted to take my own advice that I gave the lovely Erin @ Two Thirds Hazel on Thursday.

Because, well, some beers turned into a little more than a few.
We rode our bikes home and called it a night.

Sunday was our day to veg out and relax from the night prior.
We ate a little bit of greasy, cheesy food and watched some movies on the couch.
I swear that meal will cure any hangover not saying we were hungover ;) !

It turned out to be a pretty warm and sunny day here in Indy on Sunday. So after our snooze-fest we were able to enjoy some rays out on our patio. It is so nice to see the green return.
That was our weekend. Did you enjoy your trip down memory lane?

Sore Lady Bits

Monday, April 15, 2013

Wow, talk about a productive weekend for A and I.
I hope you had a great weekend as well and I want to hear all about it.
Leave me a comment below telling me what you did this weekend.

So, let's start with Friday.
Friday was not really productive or exciting.
Once A came home, we had a couple of drinks and called it a night.

Saturday began with breakfast, a little workout, and getting cleaned up.
We then ran to the store to buy these little gems.

We bought two new bikes. Nothing too fancy just something to get us from point A to point B since we live off a huge walking/biking trail. Now you might need a little back story. I do not even know the last time I rode a bike - way back when I was a little kid, I assume. I never got on a bike in my adulthood. Not even a stationary bike, as I am sure I would fall over. So when we were shopping for bikes, A kept asking if I wanted a helmet. I, of course, am way too good for a helmet and opted to no get one. How am I a good bike rider if I haven't been on one since childhood?

News to you all, I did not fall off the bike and I rode in a pretty straight line!!

Proof...

And then I said my vag hurts. I mean, how and why in the world do people put their bodies in torture like this? We ended up riding about 5 miles on Saturday and my lower hemisphere was screaming!

The remainder of the day consisted of grocery shopping, movies, and enjoying adult beverages.

Sunday started with a little bike ride to go get breakfast sore lower female parts and all.

The cafe that we ate at has some of the best food I have ever eaten and their menu is always rotating. Nothing there will ever disappoint!!

The remainder of Sunday was spent with me working on a DIY project and A working on his car.

We had a great weekend.
